Setting Up Facebook Business Page

Remember to create a Facebook Business Page, you do need a Facebook Profile.

How to Create a Facebook Business Page on DESKTOP:

  1. Open your Facebook Profile

  2. At the top of the homepage, select CREATE and choose PAGE

  3. Name your Facebook Business Page

  4. Add a category to describe your Facebook Business Page (See below for information on how to select the best category)

  5. Enter business information (Address, Contact Information, etc)

  6. Select CONTINUE

  7. Add the profile photo by selecting NEXT or you can SKIP to come back

  8. Add the cover photo by selecting NEXT or you can SKIP to come back

  9. Once you have completed the steps, selecting NEXT will take you to your new Facebook Business Page

How to Create a Facebook Business Page on MOBILE:

  1. Open your Newsfeed

  2. Select the Pages icon. If the tab isn’t available, you can tab the menu icon and select PAGES

  3. Select +CREATE

  4. Select GET STARTED

  5. Enter business name and select up to three categories that describe your Facebook Business Page. (See below for information on how to select the best category) Select NEXT when complete

  6. Enter your address if needed / wanted or select DON’T WANT TO ADD AN ADDRESS. Select NEXT. You can select SKIP to come back later

  7. Add a profile and cover photo to your Facebook Business Page. Select DONE

What you need when you create a Facebook Business Page:

  • A personal Facebook Profile: To create a Facebook Business Page you will need a Facebook Profile. Information from your personal Facebook page will not appear on your Facebook Business Page. They are considered separate to Facebook.

  • Category: The category you choose will provide unique features for your business.

  • Information about your business: You want to get the most out of your Facebook Business Page…add details about your company / organization (addresses, email, phone number, areas you service, etc). The more information you provide, the better.

  • Goals you want to achieve: When you create a Facebook Business Page, set up a goal that you want to achieve (a set amount of followers, the amount of posts you want to put out, etc).

  • Insights: Facebook Business Pages have an Insights tab. This will help you better understand your audience and the content to put out. This will tell you the amount of views, likes, reaches, etc you have achieved on your page and per post.

What to set up:

  • Note: This feature was released during COVID-19, allowing you to announce temporary service changes.

  • Visuals: Make sure to have a profile picture and cover photo the represents your business.

  • Description: Adding a short description to your Facebook Business Page will allow your visitors to know the kind of service you provide. Keep the description brief (Max 2 Sentences)

  • Contact Info: Adding a phone number, email, and website will allow page visitors to get in touch with you.

  • Location Hours: If your business has a physical location, make sure to have an address added alongside your business hours.

  • More Categories: You can select up to two more categories that are relevant to your business to gain more customers.

  • About and Story: Let your potential customers know what your business is about. You can also add stories to your Facebook Business Page, we will discuss that later on.

Selecting the best category for your Facebook Business Page:

When you created your Facebook Business Page, you can select up to three categories. Here are why categories are important:

  • Appear on your Page: The main category you chose will appear on your Facebook Business Page under the business name.

  • Helps potential customers find your business much easier:

    • Search: Your Facebook Business Page will appear on the Facebook search whenever a potential customer searches in the categories you selected.

    • Recommendations: Potential customers who have shown Facebook they are interested in specific services, etc will now see your Facebook Business Page as a recommendation.

    • Location: Your Facebook Business Page will appear in searches for potential customers when they search a business near them. Making sure to keep your address updated, is key!

  • Show related Facebook Business Pages: The categories you chose will help organize similar Facebook Business Pages for potential customers to discover.

  • Remember, if your business is a service, restaurant, retail or ecommerce - Facebook has a category for you.
